1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Electrum-IS website, beta programme, or any associated software (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to all of these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, beta participants, and anyone else who accesses the Service.

2. Description of Service

Electrum-IS provides a self-custody cryptocurrency wallet with integrated real-time AML (Anti-Money Laundering) screening on incoming transfers. The Service is currently in prototype and beta stage. Features, availability, and functionality may change without prior notice. Electrum-IS does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation during the beta phase.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are of legal age to form a binding contract and are not prohibited from receiving services under the laws of your jurisdiction. Access to the Service may be restricted in certain countries due to regulatory requirements.

4. Self-Custody and User Responsibility

Electrum-IS is a non-custodial wallet. This means:

  • You are solely responsible for safeguarding your private keys and seed phrase.
  • Electrum-IS does not store, transmit, or have access to your private keys.
  • Loss of your seed phrase means permanent, irrecoverable loss of access to your funds. Electrum-IS cannot assist with recovery.
  • All transactions you authorise are irreversible on the blockchain. You bear full responsibility for any transaction you initiate or approve.

5. AML Screening — Scope and Limitations

The AML screening feature is provided as an informational tool only. You acknowledge that:

  • Risk scores are based on publicly available data and community-maintained datasets, which may be incomplete or out of date.
  • A low risk score does not constitute legal clearance or compliance certification.
  • A high risk score does not constitute a finding of unlawful activity.
  • You remain solely responsible for any compliance, regulatory, or legal obligations arising from transactions in your wallet.
  • Electrum-IS does not provide legal or financial advice. Consult a qualified professional for compliance-specific guidance.

6. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights.
  • Launder money, finance terrorism, or engage in any sanctioned activity.
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the Service.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from any part of the Service.
  • Introduce malware, viruses, or any other harmful code.
  • Use the Service for any purpose other than personal, non-commercial use unless expressly agreed in writing.

7. Beta Programme

Participation in the Electrum-IS beta programme is by invitation only and may be revoked at any time at our sole discretion. Beta software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Do not rely on beta software for production or high-value transactions. Feedback you provide during the beta may be used to improve the Service without compensation or attribution.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, branding, software, and documentation associated with Electrum-IS are the exclusive property of Electrum-IS or its licensors. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right, title, or licence to any intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as described herein.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. ELECTRUM-IS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ELECTRUM-IS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF FUNDS, LOSS OF DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED $100 USD.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Electrum-IS and its affiliates, officers, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party rights.

12. Modifications to the Service and Terms

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated to active beta participants at least 14 days in advance where practicable.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction, as determined by applicable law in your jurisdiction.
